Do acupuncture needles hurt?

Acupuncture is not supposed to hurt. It's supposed to be a relaxing experience. However, some acupuncture points can be a little sensitive on insertion due to blocked meridians, but they ease after just a few seconds. Each needle is so fine and delicate, you can fit 18 of them into a regular blood test syringe. However, any concerns or phobias can be discussed prior to your appointment.

Is cupping painful?

The suction from cupping does not hurt, but actually feels very much like a deep tissue massage and is relieving on tight, sore muscles.

Does cupping leave bruises, and how long do they last?

Cupping does not bruise. However, it does leave round marks where toxins and blood have been bought to the surface of the skin, some darker than others, and can last between a few days and up to two weeks depending on the level of blood stagnation or toxins in the area.

I treat many different conditions, however, each treatment is specifically tailored individually, so please do get in touch to see how I can help.

Are you guaranteed to fix my problem?

This all depends on the nature of your problem. Some problems are harder to fix than others. This will discussed during a consultation. I do guarantee to reduce pain and discomfort, however, we will also discuss how many treatments are needed to provide optimum results.

How long is treatment?

Treatment sessions usually last 60 or 90 minutes, but we also offer 30 minute sessions for specific localized issues such as knee or elbow pain. Shorter and more frequent appointments are beneficial for this type of smaller problem. 90 minute sessions are best suited for dual problem areas, such as a knee and lower back.

Do you treat children?

Yes, children are welcome at my clinic, and their sessions are specifically designed for their age. However, anyone under 18 years old must have a parent or legal guardian present.
